My Journey of Art Awakening

Uncategorized

Born on 4Th December 1969 ,in India and inclined towards art since early childhood. Every medium attracted me.

Every form of art has the power to unveil the ultimate identity of the SELF.

Warmth, care and support from the family environment of five siblings intensified my curiosity by providing me all sorts of resources to quench my endless thirst of knowing the world in me and outside.  My parents , my father being a service minded doctor and mother being a compassionate home maker provided me all sorts of freedom  to explore in art as well as in reading .  I was a voracious reader  from the moment I started reading. Observing my super heroes’ paintings in comics   gave me immense joy and inspiration for painting in those curious days . Feeling so fortunate about myself to have had such a high degree of freedom since my childhood   to explore various subjects to know like humans, feelings, life, spirituality and so much more.

At the age of 12 , I learned basics of oil painting  and at 14, won a prize at state level oil painting competition organized by World Wild life Society. Painting wild life was a passion at that time. When I was 14, my school  encouraged me  to paint two  life sized portraits of Swami Vivekananda and Shri RamKrishna Paramhansa on large boards in oil medium which adorned the school walls for years. And that was my first customized project.

I rejected the admission of medical and preferred doing B.Sc. with Clothing and Textile from M.S. University Baroda due to my deep love for the field of creativity. Then I completed Diploma in Interior Decoration  and a completed charcoal painting course. I taught at school, conducted my own art classes and fashion designing classes during that time and also worked as a freelance design illustrator at a world renowned NGO .

In 2005, to create a change in the stereotype education system, me and my few like minded friends established an educational Institution  and many years after that  I graduated in education.

After spending fifteen years in the education field, I got inspired to design some learning tools and activities for conceptual understanding  , to add fun element in learning process and to unfold the fact that life and learning are not separate but interwoven. To inculcate creative and critical thinking in new generation, I felt a strong need of a place where students can explore and experiment their ideas freely, hence an innovative educational   learning Lab with design and technology for young learners  started by me in 2015.

I picked up the brushes again at the age of  48  with the portrait of my daughter.

My thirst to dive deep in this field kept me painting one after the other. And within one and a half year, I fulfilled my dream of Solo Art show and ventured to give my first demo of portrait painting in my favourite Alla Prima art style in public. I am participating in group shows too. I started selling my art pieces online as well as offline. I started taking customized orders of paintings and portraits too.

During my second phase of creating painting, I have been learning  to follow my own insights and  instincts to express myself more and more freely .Creating art is a meditation for me .I am finding as as loosing myself doing it. Many subjects  call me. I am listening to them and express them in my own style. I love to work with impressionism, expressionism, abstract with objective as well as realism. I am on an endless journey of art awakening…….

And here I am.

I am an explorer. I don’t know where I shall be tomorrow. Throughout my wanderlust, Kirti Pathak ( civil engineer) my husband cum friend and  Dr.Mudra Pathak, my daughter and Dr.Hushedar Kharas, my son in law, they both are Ophthalmologists as well as my lovely friends and my soul mates .Without my family’s support   I couldn’t have wandered   an inch. I am thankful to so many artists, old masters and many contemporary ones   who  are continuously inspiring me to grow in my work.

I intend to create art that can soothe mind and soul. My efforts are to reach to that level of effortlessness.   And to create such art works that can  heal the stressed minds by simply driving their attention towards the magnificence of this amazing world . The practices and discourses of Art of Living have contributed enormously in every aspect of my life. My heartfelt gratitude to Gurudev  Sri Sri Ravishankarji for providing  me a blast of energy and clarity and of course courage every time I needed to break my boundaries. And  calming my mind to become able to feel that love for the world around me and within me that can reflect through my brush strokes…..

Thank you for reading this.
